mature of the wedding

A week ago today we were preparing to celebrate the wedding of Luke and Amy Schafer . I may be a little biased, however I am pretty sure it was one of the most simple yet elegant weddings I have ever attended. The love between those two has grown since those junior high days. It is genuine, rich and full of God’s love. My heart is full of happiness for the two of them. I look forward to watching them walk down the path of life hand and hand.

Today I sent Jake and Rachel ba ... ck to college. For Jake it will be his last semester. Soon all of his hard work and dedication will pay off. He will graduate in May and head to Colorado for his next adventure. When I talk with Jake I hear excitement in his voice. He has worked hard in college and during his many internships which is what has made him successful this far. I have no doubt in my mind that he will achieve whatever goal he sets for himself. (And I’m pretty excited to have an accountant in the family).

Miss Rachel is finishing up her first year. She found fairly quickly that college is not HS. I knew when she mentioned finding an extra quiet area in the library for studying that she was going to be ok. She has buckled down and is doing well. She has seen both of her brothers succeed in college. First Luke graduating from UNI and soon Jake will be an Iowa alum. My girl is going places.

My Michael. The only one at home. I have so enjoyed my one on one time with him and am in no hurry for him to graduate. I look at him and it’s still difficult for me to understand why he was handed 2 life changing hurdles. In my previous posts I said that I try not to question, but some days are easier than others. I watch him on the court while constantly checking his blood sugar, hoping it stays stable so he can finish his game. I wake up multiple times throughout the night to check his numbers, praying he will get an uninterrupted night of sleep. Every 10 days,he removes and I reapply a glucose meter. I try to be his #1 supporter because I do not want to be the ‘mom’ that gets in the way or becomes overbearing. And believe me, that is hard. mature of the wedding

Being a mom is not easy as I am sure all moms who read my blog would agree. If we are not worrying about something then we wouldn’t be who we are. God made moms to be leaders, supporters, nurturing and loving. Our arms and hearts are always open. No matter where our kids are, our love always follows.

Scotty McCreery speaks to my heart in his song Five More Minutes. If you haven’t heard it, please search it on YouTube. Time rushes by too quickly. We have to spend it with those we love, we need to say and do those things that are out of love. Remember to thank God for all he has given you. You are blessed.
